The meeting theme “Chain Reaction” illustrates the network itself, the way it works and functions, correlates and interacts. The Upgrade! International started as a creative spark that gradually grew into an international group of nodes influencing each other continually through permanent communication. The meeting gathers Upgrade! nodes into one core event in Macedonia and will hopefully cause a positive chain reaction. Upgrade! network gathers annually or bi-annually, each time in a different city for a festival by artists who participated in the Upgrade! meetings around the world.
“Chain reaction” was initiated by 5 partner nodes (Upgrade! Belgrade, Upgrade! Berlin - Public Art Lab, Upgrade! Sofia – InterSpace, Upgrade! Istanbul – NOMAD and Upgrade! Skopje - Line Initiative and Movement) that are responsible for the main coordination and communication of the project with other nodes from the network.
The outcome of the meeting is a 4 day festival with various activities that are created by common effort of the Upgrade! International nodes. On this occasion 50 international artists, curators, and arts producers will gather in Skopje to meet, present art projects and further develop the network. The artistic program of this project is rich, diverse and presents the latest developments of the new media scene on international level.
The artistic program comprises 6 parts:

Década 2
Uno de los proyectos fundamentales en la historia de la música electrónica de México. Formado en 1985 por Juan Carlos González (que provenía de Maria Bonita) y Carlos García (ex Silueta Pálida), mantienen su referente al grupo inglés Joy Division y como influencia primaria la simbologia de orden socialista, y el advenimiento del arte contemporáneo se instauran de inmediato en la naciente Electronic Body Music. Durante los noventa llevaban las noches del mítico BAR 9, fueron el puente en la escena del DF entre el EBM y la música electrónica orientada a eventos masivos, participan activamente en distintos medios de comunicación como el programa de radio Extasis 101 ayudando a difundir las diversas corrientes de la música electrónica y presentándose en algunos de los eventos más emblemáticos en Guadalajara y el DF.
Han figurado en acoplados esenciales como ‘From Trance to Cyber’, ‘Robots para los átomos’ , ‘Noiselab, 007′, ‘Electro doméstico’ y ‘BACKUP’. En 1999 emprenden un ambicioso proyecto basado en el ‘Libro de Urantia’, para el que realizan más de 20 temas en diferentes estilos, sobresale su colaboración en el film El Cielo Dividido y su actuación este año en Tokio, Japón.
Década 2 es una banda legendaria, incansable, que cuida celosamente su concepto sin realizar demasiadas presentaciones en vivo.
Ford Proco
Sui generis por derecho propio. Dúo de culto, artsy, sin links a escenas ni modas de ocasión. Ford Proco es considerado un proyecto pionero de la música electrónica de avanzada en Tijuana. A lo largo de más de 15 años sus componentes han logrado desarrollar una visión muy particular sobre la composición musical denominada “autoconst”, derivada de diferentes estilos (minimalismo, pop, ruidismo) y herramientas (cintas, synthes, sampler, la computadora).
Wito Lavolt y Robert Ford tienen todo una trayectoria dentro de la música electrotijuanera. El primero por su participación en los grupos Neo Danza, Plaza Roja, El Rastro, Fetiche, Artefakto, Motoróxido y La Noria; el segundo, por sus participaciones radiales (Sintonia Pop, Noarte y Static Radio) y sus nexos con los zines, El Centro de la Rabia y Velocet.
Su andanza musical recorre los terrenos de la música ruidista, la cultura del cassette, la conexión de los movimientos artísticos de vanguardia y el technoise que no reniega de influencias atípicas dentro del género. Mutando sin olvidar su pasado, el dúo tijuanense abraza sin pudor nuevas influencias y las integra con buen tino en su música. En otoño se editará su esperado tercer disco.

i3L (pronounced “i thrill”) is Freeware, and was developed using Max/MSP from Cycling74 and is a support application for akaRemote by Masayuki Akamatsu, i3L receives pre-defined UDP messages from akaRemote.app running on the iPhone, scales the values to MIDI, and allows you to configure the sending MIDI channel and control change message number. While this software was developed to work seamlessly with our Real-time 3D VJ software Thrill, ( http://thrill.artificialeyes.tv ) you can use this program with any audio or video software which receives midi messages.
